Swedish Massage

Ben performs Swedish stroke "effleurage" up client's leg

One of the most traditional and most practice forms of massage is Swedish massage. Swedish massage tends to get a bad reputation as being a “light pressured” massage that doesn’t do anything, but nothing could be further from the truth! Swedish massage actually has nothing to do with the level of pressure. A Swedish massage can be given with lots of deep pressure or a small amount of pressure.

What characterizes Swedish massage more than the level or pressure are the types of strokes used. Swedish massage uses effleurage  (gliding strokes), friction, vibration, petrissage (grabbing and kneading), and percussion. Swedish massage can be incredible helpful, fun, and stimulating to receive!
