Using Your FSA/HSA For Massage Therapy, Myofascial Release, Etc.

While massage therapy, myofascial release, and deep tissue massage are often out of pocket expenses, the good news is that there are lots of great ways to spend less. One of these ways is through using your Flex Spending Account or Health Savings Account.

Using Your FSA/HSA

Good news: You can *almost* always use your FSA/HSA for massage therapy. In the past 6 years of doing massage therapy in San Francisco, I’ve had only one instance where an FSA card didn’t work. In that case, the FSA had a restriction where is was ONLY good for Physical Therapy and Chiropractic. Since I’m a CMT and CPT and not either of these, her card was declined. If you are wondering if your FSA/HSA can be used for massage therapy or personal training, check in with your employer/provider. The other option is to just run your FSA CC and see if it works – it almost always does.

Other Ways To Save

If you want to spend less the other way is to opt in for a membership or a package. Either option will save you 13% on each session and includes other benefits. To learn more about packages and memberships check out my pricing page.
