What clients are saying

Desk workers, weekend athletes, distance runners and people who'd tried everything else.

I've been having body work done for years, and Ben is hands down one of the best massage therapists I've ever worked with. Ben has a deep understanding of body and has helped address problems in my neck, back and arms that have been with me for a long time. I'm a repeat client, and with no end in sight to the day-time desk job and the weekend athletics, I'll be seeing him for as long as he has a table in San Francisco.

Prior to seeing Ben, I had been having issues with pain in my right hip. I had used rollers, either tubes or balls, which would help ease the discomfort, but only for a couple of days. He did some very focused work on that hip, which was not really 'pleasant', but with good results. After the second session with Ben, I had pain free mobility!

Brent K.

Ben's corrective exercise and personal training program is incredibly comprehensive and steadily progresses from movement to movement. His multitude of videos make learning new exercise simple and his weekly check-ins ensure I'm doing them correctly. Moreover, the sandbags are challenging and versatile tools. 10/10 recommend!

I'm a long distance runner and have been seeing Ben for weekly sports massages. He has a cozy, beautiful private studio and a heated massage table that feels amazing for a tense body that has accumulated many miles over the week. He knows exactly how to release trouble spots (some of which I'm unaware until he discovers them). I leave feeling lighter and fresher to conquer the athletic demands of the week ahead.

Before working with Ben, I relied on YouTube workouts to build strength, and they were challenging. However, Ben's workouts are so much more dynamic and have helped me identify and address weaknesses I didn't even know existed. I'm making progress so much faster now.

Ben is terrific at relieving my sciatica when it flares up from time to time. He has a lot of knowledge about body mechanics and is always furthering his practice. I highly recommend Ben to everyone.

Ryan K.

Since doing the program, my hip strength and balance are no longer issues. I can feel that my core is much stronger, and my back is more resilient.

Brent K.

I came to Ben for a tremendous pain I had in my right shoulder. He worked very carefully and patiently, checking in with me at all times. I felt safe, taken care of, heard and super relaxed. He explained everything to me and I left feeling very relaxed and my shoulder feels amazing.

Yulia R.

Ben is professional, kind and very skilled. He checks in with you as he works making sure you are comfortable and understand what he is doing.

Lael R.

Ben is extremely knowledgeable and skillful. He has helped me solve a problem that had plagued me for months. I give my highest recommendation for his services.

I've been going to Ben for almost 2 years now. I always walk out with my issues addressed and feeling new. Ben's office is very tidy and he's always welcoming. Very highly recommend!

I found Ben online searching for a place to get a sports massage, and he surpassed my expectations for what a massage therapist could provide. I used to have costochondritis and upper back pain, and Ben's combination of deep tissue massages, trigger point releases, and neurological bodywork helped a lot in eliminating that pain. He uses a holistic approach to treat the body, tailors each massage experience to your needs, and is attentive to how your body feels since the last session. You can also tell Ben truly cares about his work and his clients. He is knowledgeable about human anatomy and biomechanics and is great at explaining his techniques and reasoning. He goes out of his way to give recommendations for lifestyle changes or exercises that could help alleviate your pain.

I've been seeing Ben for a few years now for a mix of sports massage and deep tissue work He has a genuine understanding of how soft tissues connect, he doesn't just rub the sore spot, he traces the tension back to its source. His myofascial release work loosened up restrictions I didn't even know I had, and his deep tissue massage is firm and has released tight spots. He’s helped me with a mix of things from tennis elbow to just neck and back tightness from sitting at a desk all day. He adjusts his approach depending on what I need that week: sports massage and recovery work after heavy training, more targeted postural work when desk time is the culprit. He also explains what he's working on and gives me things to do between visits, would highly recommend!

Ben is, without question, body work excellence in human form. His ability to mix techniques, listen to feedback, and dial in has helped me enter a new chapter in my life. Don't think, book.

Ben has revolutionized my personal fitness and helped me overcome multiple bouts of chronic pain. I'm an active individual but experienced a foot injury that PT / doctors were unable to help with. However, Ben helped me by working on holistic body strengthening + slow ramp-up so that I could regain my confidence. Since then, I've been back at peak and have continued working with Ben for the last two years. Ben has great, positive energy, has helped me rethink my own strengthening routines and goal-setting, and has always been flexible with training plans.

Ben at Pain Solutions Massage Therapy & Personal Training is top-notch. Having seen him for several years, I really appreciate his focus on functional strength during personal training. Plus, his deep tissue and sports massage work provides a night-and-day difference whenever something is tight or misfiring. Highly recommended for anyone looking for serious bodywork and training!

I worked with Ben for about a year on lower back and shoulder pain that had been persistent through many different massage and physical therapists. I was looking for someone who deeply understood both modalities, and Ben is the real deal. I started doing PT sessions twice a month, with occasional massage. His program requires minimal equipment and is done at home, which I found made it easier to stick with. He's very sensitive to any changes and ramps up or down the program difficulty to match. My lower back pain issues were quickly resolved and he greatly helped with my shoulder pain (though it ended up not fully resolved due to some life circumstances). I'd highly recommend seeking out Ben for anyone who has complex or challenging pain issues!

Ben helped me manage hip issues/pain (and its domino effects) with a holistic approach unlike I’ve received from any other physical therapist. His methodology has proved to have benefits far beyond addressing what I came in for. He really takes pride in his work, is an excellent listener, and open to feedback + making changes to accommodate dynamic situations.

Ben is my body guru. If a physical therapist and a personal trainer and a massage therapist all had a baby, Ben would be their offspring. He has rescued my body from knee pain through targeted workouts created especially for me, with the occasional massage thrown in for good measure. As I have aged into perimenopause, he's helping me with all kinds of crazy joint pain with functional exercises that are so far beyond the clamshells and hip bridges my actual PT gave me. He and I share a love of running, and he's always working to make sure I can keep racking up miles. Worth it to get a membership for the consistency of the workouts and a regular time on his very crowded schedule.

Best deep tissue massage in SF / anywhere! Ben offers an amazing strong massage for those who want to feel relief from tension and pain. I've also been working with Ben for personal training and felt a great improvement in the shoulder discomfort/weakness that I've had for many years. Would highly recommend!

Ben has been awesome to work with! His workouts and massages have helped my back and neck pain immensely. Plus he’s just a fun guy to work with :)

Ben asks massage clients to complete a detailed intake form about injuries, areas of discomfort, other treatments you've tried, etc. then tailors a massage to your personal needs. His unique blending of styles (sports medicine, deep tissue, pressure points, rolfing, etc.) was exactly what I hoped to find to help treat my back and shoulder pain. In my case he applied myofascial release for all the major muscle groups throughout the body that connect to that part of the back and might be contributing to the pain. He even did a deep release of the psoas and iliacus muscles, which can be hard to access. It's been a few days and I'm still feeling more balanced and loose in those areas. Overall I really appreciated Ben's thoughtfulness, care, and anatomical knowledge which produced a more therapeutic massage intended to address underlying imbalances and improve holistic wellness. While it wasn't the most pleasant massage I've had, it was exactly what I needed, and I'll definitely return if I'm dealing with similar symptoms or an injury in the future

Be prepared for serious, thoughtful body work by Ben Beeler, who listened to my many and varied pain issues--including recovery from a non-weight-bearing foot fracture--and then somehow managed to address them all in our first session. When I left I felt lighter and more flexible. Many thanks!

Deborah Howard-Pagevia Google

No massage therapist or physical therapist is expert in every modality. But Ben Beeler is clearly expert in several (read the "About Us" page), and in only two sessions he addressed severe pain and weakness in my right hip and thigh using some combination of (I think) Active Release Technique and intense, deep massage, after conventional physical therapy stretching and exercise hadn't made a difference. I believe it's just him, there's no receptionist or assistants. This works because his online systems for managing appointments and paying are very good.

I saw Ben for myofascial release for a persistent headache that lasted for months, and it's so much better now!

Kathryn Schoxvia Google

I first met Ben a few weeks ago for some upper back pain, hip pain, wrist pain, and shoulder pain. I had really worn out my body after months of intense resistance training, and was in great need of relief. After just one session with Ben, my back dramatically improved. I was honestly shocked, considering I had seen so many other massage therapists and physical therapists for this persistent issue. Ben was incredibly accommodating, and it felt like he just knew where to go, which muscles to work, to alleviate my pain. After just two sessions, nearly all of my pain across all 5 areas I saw him for had gone away. I couldn't be happier with the result and would recommend him to anyone who trains hard regularly and needs someone skilled and knowledgable to give them the sports massage they need.

I can't recommend Ben highly enough!! I suffered for months with a pinched nerve in my neck, which caused severe neck pain, pins and needles in my hand, severe pain in my elbow, and made it impossible to look upwards at all. Before seeing Ben I tried different PT's, massage-therapists, acupuncture etc, but nothing helped at all, and I was completely unable to do any of the sports or activities that I wanted to, which was deeply frustrating. I have now had a few massage therapy sessions with Ben, and my symptoms have improved drastically!! In particular, Ben's use of careful and well considered deep-tissue massage and myofascial release has given me almost normal range of motion in my neck, which has caused a huge reduction in all of my other symptoms. I finally feel like I'm close to being able to return to activities! I have also had one session of personal training with Ben, aimed at building core stability, and I can feel the reinforcing effects of these exercises for reducing my symptoms. Honestly, I really really really wish the first thing I had of done months ago was go straight to Ben! I feel like he is extremely caring and invested in my recovery, and I can recommend him with the utmost confidence!

I've been seeing Ben for over a year now and he has helped me release tight calfs & ankles through deep tissue & sports massages that has improved my overall mobility. I've also seen him for neck, back, shoulder and elbow pain and his precise skills have helped in my pain relief every time. We've worked on core strengthening through personal training and I've learned valuable understanding of my body in feeling stronger. I high recommend anyone who sits a desk all day looking for neck/back/shoulder/elbow relief and/or wants to build or build back functional strength and mobility into their every day.

I have a really bad neck and back pain. I've been going to Ben for a while for deep tissue massage. He is a real talent! After every massage therapy, I feel much better. He also offers personal training which I find really useful as I need to strengthen my back muscles. He will listen your concerns and will guide you to the right direction whether you need core training or strength training. I highly recommend him!

This is a great atmosphere and environment for healing. Ben is very knowledgeable and has enlightened me to my therapeutic needs. He works with you, for you. I enjoy my sessions with this message therapist.

I have been getting regular bodywork for almost 30 years due to chronic low back issues and more recently some shoulder dysfunction. Ben provided what was easily one of the best massages I have ever received. He attentively listened to my issues in the brief (but throrough) initial consultation and quickly got to work on those problems and a full body massage where he found knots/tightness that could be related. He clearly knows his anatomy and pointed out the muscles he was working on (which I appreciated as a physician with a woefully lapsed memory of musculoskieletal anatomy!). The pressure was deep but he kept checking in to make sure it was appropriate and that I was still comfortable. I felt great immediately after and could tell he had helped address some long standing dysfunctions. The following morning I was a bit sore in the way you are after a good workout or an amazing massage! In addition to his clinical skills he is very friendly and is a great conversationalist. I will definitley be a regular client of Ben's after this experience.

Ben is a GODSEND. A thorough, strong, and knowledgeable massage therapist that provides instant relief during his sports massages and deep tissue massages. I woke up with a horrible stiff neck and Ben was able to really get deep into my shoulders, neck, head, and upper back. He always listens to my concerns and addresses them perfectly. I am a dental hygienist so I always am tight everywhere and Ben knows exactly which muscles and pressure points to target in order to loosen up my tissue. Very reasonably priced for the high value of his sessions. I will continue to see him not only for his skills, but because he is kind, friendly, has a great sense of humor, and makes me feel comfortable during the massage. Thank you Ben!

I've been living with shoulder pain and neck pain for many years now, and have tried many different massage therapists in SF with mixed results. I was looking for someone who had the knowledge of a Physical Therapist, but able to directly do the manipulation on my muscles. Ben at Pain Solutions does that and is deeply knowledgeable, helping me to relieve my pain and understand the sources.

Overall, a very good MT experience. Pain levels are decreasing. Mobility is increasing.

I have had a lower left back pain for over a year. I went to multiple chiropractors, slept with a pillow to elevate my legs and even changed my bed multiple times. Nothing helped. Thanks to a deep tissue massage by Ben, the pain went away after just one visit. Ben was knowledgeable about how soft tissues connect with each other. He pinpointed the trouble areas and worked out the kinks. Ben was a great communicator. He asked pointed questions to understand my concerns to ensure my needs were met. The place is clean and welcoming. I highly recommend Ben to relieve your pain and learn tips to prevent the problem from recurring.

10/10 recommend working with Ben for both massage and personal training. He is incredibly knowledgable. He helped me through injury to come back stronger than I've ever been.

Ben is an excellent massage therapist! I was having terrible neck and shoulder pain on my right side, which is pretty unusual for me as both of those places had never been problems. He was able to show me the origin of the pain in my shoulder and where it connected to my neck. I found that after a few sessions with him I felt so much more flow through my neck, arm, and shoulder. I'm also much more mindful now of how I carry myself and I started having less pain after following the advice he gave me. Highly recommended, thanks Ben!

I came to Ben after struggling with a herniated disk and painful sciatica for over a year due to the physical demands of being a nurse and having a young child. Before working with Ben I had been to physical therapists but still found myself in a cycle of recovery and injury. Ben was able to address my sciatica through various different approaches. First we worked to correct a functional imbalances due to maladaptive muscle patterns I had developed due to my injury with neurokinetic and active release therapy. We worked to directly relieve my sciatica pain using nerve glides. And finally we trained with dvrt to build strength. Ben is so knowledgeable and was able to craft an exercise program directly for me and my recovery. It gradually built in complexity as I grew stronger. It was structured and thoughtful and I still use it today to keep myself strong and injury free. I feel my body is more resilient than it has been in years. I have been pain free for 2 years now after seeing Ben and I look forward to working with Ben again in the future not for injury and recovery but to take my performance to the next level as well. Thanks Ben.

I've seen Ben for several years now for chronic knee, back and shoulder pain due to repetitive stress injuries caused by sitting at a computer for too long. Ben was able to assess and release tight muscles that prevented me from moving freely and prescribe corrective exercises to custom tailor my program. I'm now past the pain management cycle and work with Ben in terms of strength building and cannot recommend him enough! His knowledge of how the body holds and moves itself as well as compensations that can happen due to injuries or misuses are unparalleled. Definitely check him out if you're struggling with nagging aches and pains.

I found Ben because I had really bad, debilitating elbow pain from doing pull ups at the gym. It took 5 or 6 sessions but it finally completely stopped bothering me, and it hasn’t hurt in years. I’m so glad I got treatment for the problem instead of trying to ignore it. I highly recommend Ben!

If you're looking for rehab, prehab or great body work, go see Ben! I have worked with many professionals over the years and will say Ben is top shelf! His knowledge, professionalism and skill make for a compassionate and results driven outcome. He will let you know the why of issues, work through them, then give provide recommendations on how to alleviate the symptoms and pain going forward. It's easy to book online and may be able to use your HSA/FSA benefits. You're worth it, and Ben will get you there. I've referred novice to professionals to Ben and they all receive the same amazing care.
